Letter from Jack Fox to cousins Sarah Emma (Devine) Torrens and John "Jack" Morrison.
49 Selkirk St
Galt
Ontario
Canada7th June 1931.
My dear Cousin Em
We were indeed surprised to hear from you after all these years; yet the surprise was a pleasant one, although we were naturally very sorry to hear of poor Lily's passing; still I remember her. The last we heard from her she said how she had been suffering so severely from Rheumatism. Neither of us are very great at corresponding Em, but Mabel used to write to Lily occasionally.
I can just imagine how pleased you would be to hear from George after such a long period, is he still in Canada, if so, I would like you to forward his address so that I can get in touch with him. Well Em. the years bring many changes; the Fox family are getting pretty well thinned out. I have only one sister, Lou & one Brother, Harry left now. Lou is living at 10 Stone Lane, Stoke Road, Gosport, Hants, England, her name is Mrs A. Sait. this is next door to where we all lived when your brother Tom came to see us years & years ago. Lou has two married daughters, May & Elsie living at Brighton, this is quite near to where Bob is in practice at Bournemouth, but I do not know their addresses.
So you have another son besides Bobs. What is his name Em.?
We have quite a little family to: or rather quite a big one, for they are all grown up.
3 girls & one boy.
Hilda, Muriel, Edna & Jack
the last named born in canada.Hilda was over in England for a trip two years ago this month visiting mostly with Mabel's sisters and with some friends of ours at Southsea. She had a short stay at Gosport too but did not get as far as Ireland. Mabel and I keep fairly well for a young couple. I am 53 & Mabel 50 but she suffers quite a bit from Rheumatism too. How is Jack Torrens keeping? Quite well I hope but like the rest of us now getting on in years no doubt. I do not think there is anything more I can write of this time except to thank you for your letter. Kindly our sympathy to Gwen & the Clinghan family when writing, at the loss of their mother.
Write soon & tell us all the news of the past years since we were in Youghal.
Mabel joins me in love to you & yours & I remain your fond cousin
Jack Fox
