(undated, circa 1930)

My dearest sister Em

Just a few lines this time as the boat leaves tonight and I know that you will be worried at not getting a letter from your old pall brothers. Well I have covered a lot of territory this summer and have been in places which has hard to get my mail forwarded. I got 8 letters which were kept, one was17th June and 22nd July also. The one that was sent back to you. I guess they thought they would get me at Cordova but I was about 500 miles away. So Dear Sister, Alaska is a Big Country, and lot of those good mines are away out in the hills and when a fellow gets in 6 or 8 week work and get his mail forwarded from Juneau it take a long time. So I did not get any of your letter till I got back to Juneau last week. Did you get the little map I sent from Fairbanks. well I left here last April for Seward from there to Anchorage and Fairbank by train. Then I crossed country 500 miles to a place called Chitina. I had to come over the Government Highway from there I went in to the Nebezna Gold mines. Just got in 6 weeks work as they do not work winters as it is to cold it is hard to get water.

Now Dear Sister you can trace on the map all those place. I have covered quite a few miles. Things are picking up right along, Gold is going up every day. I think it will go to 50.00. Ee sure have a "President" He is one of the best as yet. Every thing is under the N.R.A. in Alaska. It look like next year will be good as there are lots of the mines that were closed down are going to open up in the spring at least let us hope so.

So Dear old Pal sister you need not worry even if I am slow at writing to you I promise you that you will never again lose track of your Big Husky Alaskan Brother. I find it hard to write letters anytime. I must get my eyes tested for reading glasses this winter. next Feb I will get my finial (sic) papers. I did not get my teeth fixed yet. You would not know by looking at me that my teeth were all out. I get along fine without them can take a bight (sic) out of an apple. I will get fixed up next year as I will be going back on the same job next April and I hope to get in a full season.

I was glad to here (sic) you were all well and happy. I sure would like to be able to make that trip over to see you and Jack and ny nephews. Tell Cecil that his big uncle Geo seen lot of Bears this summer. One of the fellows caught a "cub" they are great pets. We sure had a fine trip on the boat. It is generally rough coming across the gulf but this trip was sure calm.

So now Dear Sister as I am getting sleepy I must cut it short the boat leaves at 12 ock (sic) midnight. Hoping you are all in the best of health as this leave me. I hope you will be able to read this scrawl in haste will write you a long letter later on with all kinds of Love to all
I remain
Your loving brother

Just address all mail
