Note: Due to time constraints, my research objectives were=20
=96unfortunately but necessarily- restricted to certain surnames=20
(CAMPBELL, GORDON, KILPATRICK, KIRKPATRICK, M=92KAY) in Lislea townland,=20=

Kilrea parish. Few of the entries below actually mention Lislea=20
townland; however, I thought they might be of interest to our family=20
history research because of intermarriage with REID and WHITE in=20
Moyknock.

Our family history interest in Lislea townland derives from the 1834=20
marriage of our great-great-grandparents, Samuel KILPATRICK (also:=20
KIRKPATRICK) to Jane M'KAY, both of Lislea townland. Samuel's parents=20=

were Adam KILPATRICK and Mary GORDON; Jane's parents were John M'KAY=20
and Mary CAMPBELL. Samuel and Jane emigrated to Canada sometime during=20=

1847, settling at the town of Prescott, Ontario. Like many emigrants=20
during that worst of the famine years, Samuel and Jane lost two=20
children (sons, Willie John and Adam) and Jane's sister, Margaret=20
M'Kay, on the sea voyage. Remaining in Lislea townland were the=20
families of John and William KIL- or KIRKPATRICK (the names are written=20=

variously in the records), as well as those of John M'Kay (Sr and Jr,=20
from the Griffith's Valuation done in 1859-60). As other family=20
history researchers have experienced, it is a little (!) more difficult=20=

to sort out the c1825-45 GORDON and CAMPBELL families ;-).
