Shortly after receiving this information, I heard from Laura Hines,
a fellow researcher of the Blair family. The Blairs were also a
family who appeared in Blandford at the same period as the Kennedys
and Gilmores. This correspondent traced the origin of her Blairs to
the same Aghadowey Parish in Londonderry, even citing its location as
west of the River Bann. This family came originally from Ayershire,
Scotland.
I have been trying to get more information on the genealogy of the
Blair family from this correspondent and will pass it on when I
receive it.
Altogether this data may help to pinpoint the Irish origins of the
Gilmores, Kennedys, etc.al., who appeared in Massachusetts in 1718.
You probably already know about Sumner Gilbert Wood's Ulster Scots
and Blandford Scouts. This work contains a detailed account of the
1718 "five ships" of Ulster immigrants, who arrived in Boston and the
principal groups that dispersed in different directions.
The Blandford group, which contained David Gilmore and Janet Gilmore,
was routed to Worcester, Bridgewater, Nutfield, and Blandford.
If anyone on this List, has info about the people described above or
are interested in them, please write to me directly.
