Most of you will know that a number of London Livery Companies owned the =
majority of Co. Derry/Londonderry from the 1600s to the latter part of =
the 19th century.

The two companies most closely associated with the Bann Valley area were =
the Mercers and Ironmongers. However, the area owned by the Ironmongers, =
known as the Manor of Lizard was owned in association with a number of =
other companies, including the Carpenters company. This evening I was =
looking at a list of the Carpenters Company records relating to the =
Manor of Lizard and found some things of interest. You will find this =
list of records at
http://www.aim25.ac.uk/cgi-bin/search2?coll_id=3D7272&inst_id=3D91

Of greatest interest is:
Reports of visits and surveys, 1812, 1823-1884=20
Rent Roll, 1812

The rent roll and visit of 1812 could turn up a lot of people who are =
unrecorded elsewhere. The Ironmongers' land included townlands in =
Aghadowey, Agivey, Errigal, Desertoghill, and Macosquin.=20
