Hello Derek, I have compared your information against mine. I have =
about one hundred names of Morrells in Moneydig 1790-1890 (some probably =
appear more than once!). The ones that might interest you are:-
Murrell, John married Margaret Torrance 26/07/1836 (witness =
Alexander Torrance).
Morrell, John son of John and Margaret (Torrens).
Morrell, Peggy Jane dau of " " married =
William Jackson 8/4/1858
Morrell, Alexander (shoe-maker ?) son of John (farmer) married Mary =
Semple 13/8/1857
Morrell, George and Matilda (son and dau of William Morrell and Sissy =
McNeil) witnesses at marriage
of Thomas Torrens and Elizabeth Semple 24/1/1864.
Morrell, Mary dau of William Semple and Mary Torrens =
Born about 1840.
Morrell, John son of John, married Elizabeth Torrens 27/1/1881
dau of Thomas =
and Elizabeth Torrens.
Morrell, John married Nancy dau of Jane Jackson
Morrell, Elizabeth Landholder, Moneydig, in 1901, of tenant =
Margaret Jackson (living alone).
As you know the lack of a census before 1831 makes our task very =
difficult. However information keeps on cropping up and maybe some day =
it will make sense. Have you any knowledge of the Roe Valley Torrens who =
seem to have had lands at Ballyquin, possibly alongside the Murrells, =
and are buried at Belteagh ? Best regards, David.
