I don't have a McAlister connection but was interested to see the names 
of Caldwell and Boyd.
My gggrandfather John McNeill settled in Millbury MA in 1852 from 
Londonderry with most of his family.

Their son John b ABT 1823 in Londonderry seems to have married an 
Elizabeth (Bessie) Caldwell also from Londonderry, in 1878 in Grafton MA 
(it could have been his second marriage) she was born ABT 1827, I don't 
know of any children. She seems to have previously been married in 1858 
to a William Shortliff.

Their daughter Margaret b ABT 1829 seems to have married a Matthew 
Caldwell in 1850 - b Ireland ABT 1827. (Possibly a twin or cousin of 
Elizabeth's?).

Their daughter Susan (Susanna?) b in Ireland ABT 1820 married a John 
Boyce b ABT 1820 in Ireland in 1848 and I spotted them in the 1880 
census in New York - with children William and Susannah.
