I think I was wrong on this ... it was more likely the Mercers who
were the landlord at Kilrea. There were some buildings constructed
at Kilrea by the Mercers, including a hotel which, in turn, housed
the agent to the Mercers' Company where the rents were received (Ref.
Ordnance Survey Memoirs of Ireland: Parishes of County Londonderry
VIII: 1830, 1833-7, 1839: East Londonderry; Vol. 27, reprint pub. in
1994 by The Institute of Irish Studies, QUB). I think this seals the
deal...
