[4qd-bannvalley] Woodend

Thanks Barbara - this is interesting the Woodend family I'm searching for
was the one on the First Garvagh Presbyterian List who married Elizabeth
Jane Nelson in 1870. Would say that Robert must have been born around 1850
and died shortly afterwards in 1874, cause of death unknown.

However Robert and Elizabeth moved to Scotland with Elizabeth's parents
sometime after the 1871 Scottish census was carried out and probably just
before the birth of their daughter in 1872. I would imagine the factors of
mobility in searching for employment was the main cause for the move. Apart
from that I don't have very much information.

Carole,

There is a Woodend family recorded in the Boveedy
Presbyterian Church records although they don't seem
to have been there very long. Boveedy is a small
seceder church not far from Garvagh.

The Baptism records show:

1854 Jas. Thomas James Woodend Margaret Gamble
  Boveedy

Sept 14, 1856 Robt James Woodend Margaret Gamble
 Boveedy

June 1859 Jane or Janet? James Woodend Marg Gamble
 Boveedy

The records are very faint. They start in 1841.

Margaret Gamble and James Woodend were both first time
communicants about 1852 or 1853. (very dif to read)

Jame Woodend and Margaret Woodend are listed on the
1857 Communicants Roll. Margaret Woodend is only one
listed on the 1860 Roll.

Hope this helps.
