[4qd-bannvalley] Regarding: Gilmore, Kennedy, Giffin families
Hi Beryl
Well spotted! Here's what I have.
i) James Young b ABT 1821 Ireland married Martha McNeill b ABT 1834
Ireland in Ireland.
They had Mary b 1847 and John b 1850 and also James b 1851 in
Pennsylvania, followed by Martha b 1853 and George b 1856 in
Massachusetts. They are in the 1860 Census in Sutton, Worcester, Mass.
They must have emigrated before 1851 when John and Sarah landed.
(1860 Census - Sutton, Worcester, Mass.
James Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 38 1821 Ireland Male
Martha Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 34 1825 Ireland Female
John Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 9 1850 Pennsylvania Male
Mary Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 12 1847 Pennsylvania Female
James Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 8 1851 Pennsylvania Male
Martha J Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 6 1853 Massachusetts Female
Geo Young, Sutton, Worcester, MA 3 1856 Massachusetts Male)
ii) James Young b. ABT 1826 Ireland married Mary McNeill b ABT 1840
Ireland, ABT 1878 in Masschusetts.
They had Sarah J, b 1858, Nancy b 1859, Thomas b 1865 and Mary b 1868.
(1870 Census in Millbury, Worcester Co, MA (3 Aug 1870). James Young
(44), Mary Young (40), Sarah (12), Nancy (11), Thomas (5). Together with
John McNeal (84) and Sarah (60?))
Of course (ii) is the more reliable as they had John and Sarah staying
with them at census time. The James' could have been cousins?
Cheers, here's hoping.......
Iain
