RE: [Bann Valley] Errors

Hi Listers,

As someone who has tried to decipher a few of the more difficult scrawls
left by the good ministers of the Bann valley churches, which Barbara has
sent me, I know the difficulties and am very well aware of how much trouble
Barbara has gone to to get them correct. And while there will inevitably be
a few minor errors, especially with unfamiliar placenames, I know the
transcriptions are as accurate as humanly possible and that Barbara has
spent many hours, nay days and weeks, transcribing these records for our
mutual benefit, for which we ought to be eternally grateful.

I also know that any family historian, worth her or his salt, treats all
transcriptions as just that. They are not originals and they should always
be used in conjunction with other records.

Please don't shoot the messenger; we have few enough of them.

Regards,

Boyd

Subject: [Bann Valley] Errors

Hi Listers,

It has been brought to my attention that some are complaining the records on
the Bann Valley site are full of errors. I don't think there are any more
problems with these records than those on other sites. In fact I have
double checked a few times what Emerald Ancestry has against what we have
and ours are correct and theirs are in error.
