Re: [Bann Valley] Errors

Hi everyone,

Just to follow up on Barbara Braswell's earlier sentiment.. We transcribers are only human! Yes, we do sometimes make mistakes. One person transcribes, a second proof reads before the 'document' is sent to Richard for insertion on the Bann Valley page. HOPEFULLY, that will uncover any issues. We can only record what is on the original document.. and where we feel there needs to be clarification, we leave transcriber's comments. Please also bear in mind that whoever completed the ORIGINAL document might have made a mistake with the date, name or what ever.

Let me give you two examples of how the General Registers Office (the Government department in charge of recording Births, Marriages and Deaths) can (and DOES sometimes) make mistakes.. I know one person whose birth certificate says she was born in November... when she was actually born in May.. and I know another person whose birth certificate actually says lists HIS sex as female!! Mistakes DO happen.. and sometimes at the highest level.

BUT, here is where YOU can help! If you DO see what you think is a mistake, check your source in the first instance.. then if you're 'happy' that there IS a mistake, email Richard or Barbara (or me!) with as much detail as you have!

Denver
