Morrison Stewart's Search for school at junction of Ringsend Road with Coleraine/Limavady Road:-
I have discovered that the location Morrison Stewart wrote about is indeed at the junction of what the locals would call the "Ringsend Road" (that is part of the main road from Coleraine to Dungiven which runs through townlands such as Ardverness, Ballynacannon, Leck, Cashel, Ballymenagh and Meavemanougher to the village of Ringsend) and the main Coleraine/Limavady Road.
The school in question was "Jackson's Academy", an elite boarding school. The building is still there at No 2 Cashel Road, Macosquin, Coleraine and is now owned by Jim Morrow. Jim's bungalow is built right beside the former academy and sits on a height overlooking the main Limavady/Coleraine road and the village of Macosquin, in the townland of Ardverness.
The Rt Hon The Rev Robert Moore, one time MP for North Derry and Minister of Agriculture, and minister of Ringsend Presbyterian Church (1912-1960) received his early education at this academy.
I hope this helps.
