[Bann Valley] Bann Valley - Wilson/Brown families



The Following is an obituary of my grandfather William Brown Wilson born
approx 1892 I would appreciate any information you may have of his ancestry



Mr William B Wilson



The death took place suddenly at Coleraine Hospital on Tuesday of Mr William
Brown Wilson, Carnroe, Kilrea. He had been in good health until the day of
his death, which followed a heart attack.


A native of Trinaltinagh, Kilrea Mr Wilson was in his 80th year had resided
at Carnroe for the past 60 years where he farmed extensively and
successfully. He was well known for his kindly disposition and was always
ready to help those in need. He had been a keen angler.


A member of the Presbyterian Church,  Mr Wilson's early church associations
were connected with Boveedy before he went to reside in Carnroe. It was at
Boveedy that he was ordained to the eldership, but on joining Moneydig some
34 years ago he was co-opted to Session being later appointed as Clerk of
the Session, a position he filled until his death. Previously he had been
congregational secretary. In the Colraine Presbytery he was a member of the
Board of Education as well as representative elder for his church at


Surviving him is his wife, formerly Miss Jane Biggart, Stranocum, Dervock :
three sons - Robert, Lisburn : David, Lislaggen, Ballymoney : and Gerald,
Carnroe : and four daughters - Mrs John Tomlinson (correction Thomason),
London : Mrs Hugh Harris, Belfast : Mrs J D Prifti BA Nigera : and Miss
Sheila Wilson a member of the teaching staff of Orangefield Primary School,


His funeral, which was private took place to Moneydig Presbyterian
Churchyard on Thursday last. The Rev H C Stuart, Moneydig officiated.


Speaking at the morning service in Moneydig Presbyterian Church on Sunday,
the Rev Mr Stuart paid tribute to the life and work of Mr .
