Re: [Torrens List] Military record

I have a Thomas Torrens who seems to have been born about 1764, according to his descendant Annie Fullerton. He was from the Lower Carragh, which is not Aghadowey. There is no indication that he ever left the Carragh, to go and serve in the army, but maybe that did happen oftener in the past than we know about now. I'm keeping the possibility of military careers in my mind. Another of my county Derry ancestors, Robert Brown, seems to have served in the army and come home to be a land agent in Bovagh; a man who may be his brother was a lieutenant in the militia and farmed at Trinaltinagh; he died 1850
