[Torrens List] Torrens in co. Clare, Ireland
Does anyone know about these Torrenses? In 1911 John Alexander
Torrens, b. co. Antrim, was living in the household of his uncle
Alexander Knox, also b. Antrim, in Ennis, Clare. The uncle was a
grocer and publican, and his business apparently survives in Ennis as
Knox's, a popular bar and restaurant over a whole building. John A.
Torrens may be the father of Desmond Torrens, from Ennis, 'Des' who
was a very well-known character, an Irish rugby international in the
1930s, and also a notable golfer; he got to the finals of the South
of Ireland championship in the late 1930s.
